Chemotherapy

Yesterday I got to go with Susan to her first day of Chemotherapy at the new Death Start: IHC in Murray. It was an amazing facility, and I'm really grateful that she get's to have her chemo there and not have to drive all the way to the U or to Huntsman, although I'm sure those are nice facilities too. Anyway, it's really interesting how...friendly...other cancer patients are. I was pleasantly surprised at the support and kindness that was offered in the few short hours we were there. We met a lot of really sweet people. One woman named Evelyn, who is 75, told us that last summer she was golfing and playing tennis, and that she was skiing last winter and had put up her own Christmas lights, and then had taken them down, by herself. She was so funny, and SO POSITIVE. When they brought in Susan's actual chemo, I said, "Is that the poison?" And Evelyn laughed and said, "No, that's the stuff that's going to make her feel better." This was not the only postive thing she said, but it made me laugh, so I thought I would throw it in there. She was a sweetheart.
Susan did really good, but she said it made her feel tired, and a little weird. I guess it would be hard to describe. It was difficult to watch, at least for my blue personality. I just kept thinking "They're pumping poison into her body." I had a hard time holding onto Evelyn's wise words, that it was helping her.
After all was said and done, I was driving home with the kids sleeping peacefully in the van, and a thought suddenly occured to me. Up until recently, Susan hasn't been able to feel much on the right side of her face. Yesterday she had mentioned how all of the sudden she could feel a little more. She said it was great, despite having to feel the pain behind her eye. Susan had spinal-chermotherapy last Thursday. The thought that had occured to me and comforted me all the way home and all of last night is that, perhaps, the chemotherapy is already shrinking the cancer, and the pressure on her nerves is being released, little by little, and that's why she can feel her face again. Her eye is even opening more, even though she still can't see through it.
I'm really grateful to live in a time of modern medicine.

Embarassing Bathtub Picture #1

Last weekend the Ducky's came over, and since everyone got nice and messy, we decided it was the ideal opportunity to plan embarassing photos! Haha, and they thought they were just going to get to have a good time. This one will be Cohen's embarassing bathtub picture. So when he grows up and has a nice, strong, healthy crush on Kaiyenna, we can embarass him to the max and bring out this photo! Heaven forgive me, I've got devious plans up my sleeves...

Fond Memories of Woody and Buzz

When I lived on my own for the very first time with my friend Melanie, we had a tiny little t.v. that only played VHS's, which, we only about 3 of. One of them was Toy Story II. We watched that over, and over and over and over...you get the idea. Anyway, it came to the point where we couldn't quite remember what happened in the first Toy Story. It was very disheartening, and it drove me crazy.

Then I had Cohen. Then he was introduced to Toy Story. Now, I have it memorized, and I will never worry about forgetting what happened in the first show.

I'm so pleased and excited to announce Toy Story 3, coming to theaters June 18th, 2010. Cohen will be five. Hold while I tear up for a moment...alright, I'm good. Here's a little diddy on the movie:

Plot details for the third part remain under wraps, though the filmmakers said it begins with Andy (owner of Woody and Buzz) about to head off to college. A Ken doll will be the franchise's newest toy.

Welcome, Ken Doll. I hope you'll be happy with your new family.

Update on Aunt Woo

Cancer really sucks. Susan starts chemotherapy on Monday. She gets to sit there for five hours, and stare at the Trax station. She's getting a spinal tap today to see if it's spread to her spine. It's really hard to be with her and not cry. I feel bad even considering it. Your prayers are much appreciated.

The Chaos, The Madness and The Medley

Awww, good friend. You make me laugh. Someone has brought it sweetly to my attention that my blog is a great reflection of the chaos in my brain. It's all cluttered, ever changing and mutating, and constantly full of pointless information. I went back and looked, my pictures all deranged because I couldn't figure out how to align them correctly and then quickly lost interest, my add ons of definitions, all the different music I love, my tendancy to obsess...I'm an open book, friends. I hope you enjoy what you read.

I'm going there someday...

My dream home, literally, HOME. If I could convince Brett that the French aren't as horrible as they really are, I would move here in a second!

I can just imagine walking up and down the coast, holding hands with Cohen and Kembry, him in his little shorts and sunglasses, her in her little sundress and sun hate (her favorite.) Oh, where's Brett you say? Well, he's sailing out on the sea, catching whatever fish swim in the sea...who knows. Or maybe he's picking me some fresh flowers on the hillside. That would be nice too.
And here's the little pathway we'll take walking back to our little white cottage with the picket fence and the yelping hound. We'll sit on the front porch drinking lemonade and swinging on the old wooden swing...

My red personality screams with enjoyment: I TOLD YOU SO!

I remember the looks I got from the Hubby as I studiously hovered over my hard back copy of Twilight. I remember the giggles, the side-ways glances, the "you're nuts" comments. Oh, I remember. And now I'm happy to say that he was up until 12:30 AM last night reading. HAHAHAHAHAHA, I told you so! Awww, my red personality is appeased. Now my blue personality is so excited to talk more and more about it with him. And the greatest part is that I never have to start the conversation...I love my husband.
